1957年生于大阪，现居京都。1983年毕业于京都市立艺术大学大学院美术研究科。今村以日常生活中常见的物品为素材，通过制作风趣幽默的作品，引导观者想像与日常生活相辅相成的异世界。他的风格充满哲学色彩，得到了众多艺术家的支持。近年展览：“Symbiosis: Dissolving My Self Like a Mushroom” (Shizuoka City Museum of Art, 2013)
